You Have Value - Home Grown Heroes

Simon Moriarty —

Last week we held a virtual kura assembly and we had five fantastic tamariki receive a Home Grown Hero Award!

Poppy has just come back from a USA competition for gymnastics. At the Washington Cup she got 2nd in Rope, 2nd in Hoop, 3rd in Ribbon and 3rd overall. At the San Diego Cup she got 2nd in ribbon, 3rd in rope and 4th overall. Congratulations to Poppy and her amazing talent in gymnastics!

Dominic has been saving up for a console for several years and eventually he managed to find a cheaper version of what he was trying to buy. After buying it, he had $60 left! He talked to his Nana and asked about different local charities he could donate too. He found out about Hospice and donated his extra money. He also sold tomatoes and did a bake sale to get more money to donate. Thank you Dominic for thinking of others, because others matter!

On Sunday Emi from Studio 11 was placed second on the floor at a gymnastic competition. An amazing achievement.

Victoria and Caitlin: These girls are part of the Rolleston Tui's rugby team, and were selected from all of Canterbury rugby girls to be 2 of the 9 ball girls for the recent Matatū vs Hurricanes Poua game. Matatū went on to recently win the Super Rugby Aupiki competition! What a game! What an honour! Well done!

We have so many wonderful students at our kura!
