This year Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School will continue conducting transitions to 2024 as we did in 2023. This approach was incredibly successful for students, staff, and our parent community.

This approach has been adopted successfully by schools in Selwyn and throughout New Zealand. It has been proven to help reduce the anxiety that many tamariki (children) experience at the start of the school year.

Transitions will occur in Week 9.

• Wednesday (6th Dec) - Tamariki and whānau (via Hero) will be notified of their 2024 class and teacher. Tamariki will meet and visit with their 2024 class and teacher from 9.30-11 a.m.

• Thursday (7th Dec) - Tamariki will meet with their 2024 class and teacher from 11.30-12.30.

• Friday (8th Dec)- Tamariki will meet with their 2024 class and teacher from 1.45 p.m. - 3.00 p.m. Whānau can meet their new teacher from 3.00 p.m. - 3.30 p.m. in their 2024 classroom. This is an opportunity to 'put a face to the name’.

• An opportunity will be provided in Term 1 2024 for Making Connections meetings between teachers and whānau.
