Simon Moriarty —

It has been amazing to be part of the official launch of the E Tū Tāngata Music Video last week. To see our amazing tamariki showcased is incredibly humbling and reinforces our pride to be involved in the E T`ū Tāngata movement.

A massive thanks to everyone for your support of our Cyclone Gabrielle Fundraiser. We will confirm the final figure we managed to raise shortly, which will be donated to the NZ Red Cross. Thank you for showing that Others Matter.

Farewell Miss Gray

It is with great sadness that we farewell Miss Jessica Gray from the Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School staff at the end of this term. Jess has been granted leave from her position by the BOT for the remainder of the 2023 school year so she can fulfill her desire to travel and explore the big wide world. Jess has been part of the Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School Staff since 2020 and has done an AMAZING job supporting learners across the Totara Team. Although we will miss her we hope that she will return. The good news is that Jess will be around for the first few weeks in Term 2 supporting the new teacher to settle into Studio 12 and doing some relieving across the school. We are currently in the shortlisting phase of finding a new teacher for Studio 12 and we will announce the successful candidate in due course.

Term 2 Principal Sabbatical

Late last year I was lucky enough to be awarded a Principal Study Sabbatical, which, in negotiation with the Board of Trustees, I am taking Term 2 of this year. I have been a principal now for 16 years and have never taken this opportunity which I am looking forward to. My main area of focus over the Term is to look into “What are key leadership and governance decisions, strategies, and approaches that school leaders are implementing that are positively impacting staff wellbeing within a large primary school setting.” The BOT and Senior Management team are currently finalising planning the most efficient way to structure the school in my absence, with as little impact as possible. Mr. Darryn Aitchison will be the Acting Principal in my absence. We will provide more information before the end of this term.

Have a great weekend.

Cheers

Simon
