Hi team. The 2020 finish line is coming into view.....slowly!!! Over the last two weeks not only have our students continue to be engaged and loving the many opportunities planned by our amazing staff, we have also finalised our 2021 teaching team.

2021 Staffing

Once again, 2021 is shaping up to be an exciting year at Te Ahi Kaikomako Rolleston School. We are incredibly excited about continuing to grow our new strategic direction and school wide values based around growing an E Tū Tāngata mindset. We have already done a significant amount of new planning in these areas and look forward to sharing these changes with you in the new year.

Te Ahi Kaikomako Rolleston School is such a large staff and each year we farewell existing staff members and welcome new staff to the Te Ahi Kaikomako Rolleston School team.

Farewells

Within team Rata we say farewell to Jen Bailey and Anna Wilson. Jen and Anna have once again supported the school by teaching in the new entrant classrooms, Room 7 & Room 8, that were opened in Term 3 and Term 4 this year. We thank both Jen and Anna for their hard work this year.

In team Totara (Yr 3 & 4) we say goodbye to Emma Goodall (for now) and Lesley Debenham. Emma begins her maternity leave position and will return in 2022 full of  new adventures she has had, as a mother of two!!! Lesley has done an amazing job covering Mel Grainger's maternity leave and we thank her for the wonderful contribution she has made supporting the students in Studio 9. We wish Emma and Lesley all the best for next year.

In Team Kahikatea we farewell Deepa Cawood from the Te Ahi Kaikōmako team. Deepa has been at Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston for over ten years and has been an incredible influence on our Year 7 &8  learners as they have journeyed through the school. Deepa will be travelling to the Auckland area where she will be with her whānau and husband Matt, who has graduated as a new officer of the NZ Police force. Deepa will continue her passion for working in education through her new role as a Learning Support Co-ordinator. On behalf of the students, staff, BOT and community of Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School we wish Deepa all the best for her new adventures.

We also  farewell Ann-Marie Neal who has made a wonderful contribution to Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School supporting our target students and also  beginning teachers in her release teacher role. We all wish you well in your future endeavours Ann-Marie.

Finally, we farewell Keri Herd, Lisa Giles and Heather Pugh-Williams. Keri, Lisa and Heather have done a wonderful job in their roles as Teacher Aides. The support they have all provided the students they work with is greatly appreciated.

Welcome

We are excited to welcome the following new and returning staff members to the Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School Staff for 2021.

We welcome back Melissa Upperton once again into the Rata Team. Melissa will be working alongside Marion Young in a job sharing capacity in 2021.

Team Kowhai welcomes back team leader, Mel Grainger, who returns from her maternity leave. We are excited to have Mel back as part of the Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School team.

Team Totara are excited about Georgie Hill joining the Yr 3 & 4 team in 2021. Georgie is currently a classroom teacher at Sheffield School. She has a wide skill set ranging from a love of the outdoors, science & technology and engaging students in their strengths and passions.

We welcome back Andrew Boaz to the Kahikatea Team. Andrew left the Rolleston community last year with the rest of the Boaz whānau to experience the exciting mix of travelling the world and teaching in an international school in China. We are excited about bringing Andrew's wealth of skills and experiences back into Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School.

With the teaching team confirmed for 2021 I have inserted the following table below. This highlights what team our new and existing staff will be working in next year. Like always, due to numbers, some of our amazing staff will be bring their skills to another team within the school.

We will communicate the classes the teaching team will be working in prior to the end of the 2020 year. We are incredibly excited about the 2021 teaching team and the opportunities and skills we can offer the students of Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School.
