Simon Moriarty —

Well, there we go!!!! Term 1 DONE & DUSTED. It has been a great end to the Term with a wide range of our students being involved in a number of events, including Tough Kid Challenges, X-Country and trips to Rutherford House, and the CHCH Waka Experience.

Farewell Miss Gray (Jess)

On behalf of the students, staff, and community, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jess Gray for the dedicated service she has provided to Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School. We have been so lucky to have Jess as part of the Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School team for the last three and a half years. She began her career as a teacher with us in 2020, faced many COVID educational challenges, and has grown and flourished into an amazing person and educator. We REALLY hope to see Jess back again once she has gone out and seen the big wide world. Jess will still be around Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School for the first few weeks of next term supporting Regan Baxter (new Studio 12 teacher) and completing relieving teaching.

Principal Sabbatical Update

We have everything planned and in place for my Study Leave Sabbatical which occurs next term.

As I shared in the previous newsletter, Mr. Darryn Aitchison, will be the Acting Principal while I am away. Darryn has a wealth of experience within the Acting Principal role and will once again do an amazing job in this space.

To ensure that Darryn and Chris Swanson have the necessary support in the Senior Management roles within the school, we have approached Mrs. Emma Woolford (Pōhutukawa Team Leader) and Mrs. Meika Jack (Kahikatea Team Leader) to share an Acting Deputy Principal role next term. Mrs. Jack will be working as Acting Deputy Principal Monday - Wednesday and Mrs. Woolford will fulfill this role Wednesday - Friday. Both will continue as Team Leaders.

I would like to personally thank the Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School Board of Trustees, Darryn, Chris, Meika, Emma, and the rest of the Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School staff for supporting me to fulfil my Study Leave Sabbatical. I will really miss not being involved in the day-to-day adventures next term but am looking forward to updates as Term 2 progresses. I am sure that I will still see our amazing students, staff, and community out and about.........please come up and say hi. E Tū Tāngata!!!!

Term 2

Just a reminder that Term 2 does not start for our students until Wednesday 26th April, as Monday 24th is a schoolwide Teacher Only Day and Tuesday 25th is ANZAC Day. We have a few school trips and events coming up in the first two weeks of next Term. Please refer to the Upcoming Events in this newsletter or on the community calendar.

Finally, I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable Term 2 break. I hope you all find some time to do the things you love with the people you love. I can't wait to see you all again in Term 3.....if not earlier.

Cheers

Simon
