From Tony
We’re approaching the term break, and it’s hard to believe that a whole term has already passed!
Our school roll is currently 450, which I believe is the “perfect” size for a school. Large enough to be able to offer so many opportunities, but not so large that it is overwhelming for the tamariki.
On a professional and personal note I wish to let you know that I will be on leave for Term 2 as I have been awarded a Ministry of Education sabbatical.
The purpose of a sabbatical is to engage in a balance of professional learning, reflection and rejuvenation. During my sabbatical I will be doing some travel, supporting other principals and schools across New Zealand as well as engaging in study relating to distributed leadership models in schools.
I have been eligible for a sabbatical since 2020, but opted to defer this while we faced the rapid growth/expansion in our early years as well as navigating the various stages of Covid response planning. Now is a good time as the school is very well placed.
I am grateful for the support from our Board, as well as the ability to step away for a term with utmost confidence in our leadership team to “hold the fort” during my absence.
