Board of Trustees —

Last week we had the Education Review Office (ERO) complete an assurance report for the Ministry of Education (this report is to assure the Ministry that our school is tracking ok during our establishment phase).

It’s great to have this robust external review of our school, and we welcomed their input. They will return in November for our first comprehensive review, which will include visiting classes, and talking with parents, students and staff.

They made particular mention of the school’s response to COVID-19 as testament to the culture we’ve established.

Below are some of their comments:

  • Strong focus on developing, sustaining and further promoting a school culture supportive of wellbeing and learning.
  • Comprehensive and sensitive response supportive of students, staff and parent community.
  • Emphasis in communications on maintaining wellbeing of students (and parent community).
  • Purposeful home-based learning opportunities made available to students. Very positive feedback from parents.
  • Benefitted from staff culture that has developed as a result of wellbeing and relationship focus.
  • Pandemic ICE Home Learning programme – linked directly to vision and values.
  • Benefitted from well-established communication systems and relationship with parent community.
  • Living and breathing their values, of note: the 3D printing of medical face shields as part of being community-minded.
