School Donations
Supporting the cost of your child's education.
As you will appreciate, the cost of running a school and providing a rich and diverse programme for our children is a massive one.
Our community’s socio-economic status means our school is not eligible for the government’s school donations scheme of $150 per child (Approximately 70% of schools receive this extra funding.)
Because of the above, our Board sets a school donation of $140 for the first child, $120 for the second child, with a maximum of $330 for a family. These figures have remained unchanged since we opened in 2019, and are also well below what many other schools request.
These voluntary donations help ensure Te Ao Mārama School continues to provide the best possible conditions for our children’s learning by reducing class sizes, providing high quality resources, additional learning assistant support in every class, as well as literacy, maths, sports, arts resources and amazing outdoor learning areas and playgrounds.
It is important to note that you can claim back a third of these donations from the IRD. This process is simple and can be completed online. Simply download your donation receipt from Kindo (full instructions here) and submit to the IRD for a tax refund. Please visit the IRD website for more information.
If you have any queries please contact office@teaomarama.school.nz or phone the office on 07 5950595.
If all of our families were able to make this contribution, or even a portion of it that they could afford, this would make a huge difference to what we can offer.
Thank you all for continuing to support the education of our tamariki.
Yours sincerely
Te Ao Mārama School Board
