Teacher Union Meeting – Wednesday 1st March

Tony Grey —

Our teachers will be attending a paid union meeting (with primary teachers from all other Hamilton schools) on the afternoon of Wednesday 1st March.

To enable our staff to attend this meeting we are asking families to please collect your child(ren) from school at 12.45pm.

Our out-of-school care provider, Journey Kids, will be offering care for the afternoon but you must book with them online: www.journeykids.co.nz

We fully appreciate the inconvenience and impact on parents/whānau, but it is also important that our teachers can discuss various issues to address the teacher shortage, and conditions to better support our learners. Primary teachers are advocating for smaller class sizes, more time for individual students and more specialist learning support staffing.

Our teachers love what they do, but not enough funding for schools means that we don’t have the time and resources we need to support all kids to thrive. YOUR children (OUR students) deserve the very best. We care about them immensely, and we are determined to ensure we get a better deal for them.

Ko koe ki tēna, ko ahau ki tēnei kīwai o te kete
You at that, and I at this handle of the basket.
(By working together we move forward)

Thank you in advance for your support of this.
