Message from the School Board
Kia ora whānau,
As we wind down for another term we had yet another opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate Matariki through the wonderful window displays that the TAM team set up for your viewing pleasure! I hope you all managed to make the most of a night time visit to our school.
There have been class trips organised by various learning spaces over the last few weeks and into Term 3 and 4. Tough Guy and Gal was an amazing day, with so many tamariki from TAM participating and giving it a go. As a board we know how much effort goes into organising these trips by our kaiako to ensure tamariki safety and we acknowledge the sacrifices that parents make in volunteering their time to help out on the day.
At our most recent board meeting we had updates across two areas. Firstly Lucy Rush attended to talk through the ins and outs of the sport and health and physical education curriculum areas which she manages so fantastically for our school.
This was followed by Anna and Pamela taking us through our annual update on inclusive learning, which includes all the inclusive learning assistant staff (ILAs) that you will know from across the school. We continue to be buoyed by the amazing results that this team is achieving for our tamariki and reflected on the fortunate position that we are in as a school to be afforded such a focus in this area. Traditionally this is an under subsidised area of a schools operation and this has been a huge focus for our board over the last 5 years, with significant investment in inclusive learning prioritised by us each year in our budget. It's great to see this continuing to have positive results.
Note that Tony will return from his sabbatical in Week 3 of Term 2. Personally I would like to thank Anna and Sally and the wider leadership team for their seamless management of the school in Tony's absence. This reflects the strong staff culture that is so important to our board and gives us great comfort that we have a solid foundation in place to support your tamariki.
Kia pai tō hārarei (Have a good holiday period!)
