Hukanui Marae Trip

Sandra Humphry —

Coming up on 9, 10 & 11 November we will be taking all of our students to our local Hukanui Marae.

Each day we will take a third of our students from each of the learning communities (roughly 100 students per trip).

We will be welcomed with a Pōwhiri and then learn about the history of the marae, local area and Ngāti Wairere. Following this, students will take part in a variety of learning activities e.g. Māori art, kapa haka, weaving etc.

Each day we will be travelling by bus, departing at 8.40am and returning to school by 1.30pm. You will need to make sure your child is at school on time on those dates so as not to miss the bus. There is no charge for this trip as it will be covered by the school.

Parents/whānau are welcome to join us, and your child’s teachers will advise which day your child is attending closer to the time. You will need to arrange your own transport to the Marae.
