It will be nice to move into the warmer months as there are a lot of nasty Winter illnesses around at present, which has affected not just students but also our staff.
There continues to be a lot in the media regarding pending changes to the New Zealand curriculum, and a drive to lift achievement and attendance rates. As a school, we feel very well placed to be able to accommodate these changes and are well down the path already with regard to the science of learning and structured literacy, having been “early adopters” back in 2021.
This was very affirming for us to see and is testament to a lot of hard work from our team and support from home.
While we acknowledge that academic achievement is a big part of our work - “success” in the for our students in a more well rounded sense also means we want them to know how to build strong relationships, work well with others, self-regulate and manage their emotions, show drive and “grit”, and also have fun with their learning! This is the philosophy of our school and a big part of our vision and values and “why we do what we do”.
