Illness at School

Melissa Langley —

Chickenpox is prevalent in our community at the moment so please be on the look-out for symptoms!

Chickenpox
More information on symptoms and treatment of Chickenpox can be found here:  https://www.health.govt.nz/your-health/conditions-and-treatments/diseases-and-illnesses/chickenpox

Students with Chickenpox will need to be home from school for approximately 1 week or until all the blisters have dried.

Other Illnesses
To stop sickness from spreading, it is important for you to keep your child at home when they are ill, and not send them to school. How long they should be home depends on what illness they have and you can find more information on this here: https://www.healthed.govt.nz/system/files/resource-files/HE1215_Infectious%20diseases%20card.pdf

Please ensure that your contact numbers (and emergency contact people/numbers) are current, as we are simply not equipped to look after students at school when they are unwell.

Please show courtesy to other families by making the necessary arrangements to ensure students are back to full health before returning to school, particularly with gastric/tummy bugs.

Students that have had vomiting and/or diarrhoea need to be kept at home for at least 48 hours from the last time they were sick.
