End of Year Celebration: Hui-ā-whānau (Student – Parent -Teacher meetings) 7th / 8th December

Tony Grey —

As our school year draws to a close it is important that we celebrate our learners and their successes.

Many schools have large prizegiving functions, where there may be speeches, performances and various awards for only certain students. However, as a school that prides itself on being inclusive, we believe that ALL our learners are deserving of being celebrated, especially in a challenging year such as 2021.

Many have taken on new challenges, developed confidence, established new friendships, displayed empathy to others, learned a new language, and grown socially and emotionally. All of these are as important to recognise and celebrate as any academic progress. This has got nothing to do with “being PC” (a term I feel is often over-used…and indeed mis-used), but rather is about staying true to our core values of being community-minded and collaborative.

Our Hui-ā-whānau (Student-Parent-Teacher Meetings) will take place on Tuesday 7th & Wednesday 8th December.

To book your child’s Hui-ā-whānau, please go to: https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/code/ejhuk (if asked to enter a code, use ejhuk).

These provide the opportunity for our students to celebrate the highlights of the year and share their learning. Your child will be empowered to lead much of this session, with your child’s teachers available to support and chat with you too. There will be free childcare available in Te Aroha (library/office area) for those that require it, to enable both parents/caregivers to attend.

Please refer to the separate information regarding our decision about reporting achievement for end of year.

We look forward to seeing you.
