Celebrating Matariki at Te Ao Mārama

Sandra Humphry —

Over the last few weeks our tamariki have been learning about Matariki.

They have spent time with Whaea Buffy, Whaea Sandra and their teachers learning about each star in the cluster and how important this star cluster was and is in Te Ao Māori. You may have heard them reciting or singing waiata as they were challenged to know the name and place of each star and what each star was associated with.

This week and the final week of the term will see us celebrating Matariki through craft, waiata, Kapa haka, story telling, kai and coming together to celebrate learning at our Hui ā whānau. We look forward to sharing and celebrating.

Whānau are welcome to come along to our Matariki performance on Thursday 8th July at 10am.
