Rongohia te Hau - Survey Results
During Term 2, 2023 our school undertook Rongohia te Hau. Rongohia te Hau is a review process informed by the work of Poutama Pounamu, of the University of Waikato.
The process used online surveys for teachers, parents and students (Years 4-6) in our school. The surveys asked ‘How is teaching being done and how is learning experienced?’ and ‘What do students and/or whānau think of this?’.
Poutama Pounamu have a particular focus on the experience of Māori students/whānau as part of their research, and so the results included this as a subgroup.
Results
There was a vast range of survey results and analysis, but some of these ones below are testament to the culture & relationships at our school.
A key part of the survey analysis was to compare whether there is a difference in experience between our Māori students/whānau & our non-Māori (as this is often the case in many schools/educational settings).
One of the highlights of our results is that this isn’t the case here, with high ratings experienced for all groups, as shown below.
Bringing it all together
The evidence gathered provides direct insight into how our approach is experienced by learners, whānau, and teachers across our school.
The review process provides us with important information that we will be able to use to plan for improvement in this important area, as well as doubling as an important schoolwide culture survey.
Thank you to the many respondents!
