From the Board of Trustees

Emma Burman —

Next week brings our second year of our school to an end. In January 2019 we opened the door with 117 students and our roll finishes this year on a figure almost tripled!

This rapid growth is something to be proud of, albeit it also presents some challenges. Our current growth rates are above what was predicted and we are already under way with the design of our Stage 2 expansion. This will be led by our Principal Tony Grey and supported by Frank Young (staff member & also Board member).

It is important to acknowledge the effort that has been going into this project behind the scenes to get expectational outcomes for our school with working in partnership alongside the Ministry of Education & the private partnership that builds the school. It is a significant project involving new classrooms, landscaping, playgrounds, bike sheds. At this stage it is still at the early design stages and we will keep you informed.

The Strategic goals of our school has been reviewed and endorsed for 2021 by the board. These goals set the direction that inform decisions and underpin school development over the coming year.

The board have acknowledged the excellence in student learning outcomes & culture over the year and we wish to thank all our passionate kaiako, whānau involvement and community for making Te Ao Mārama what it is today- a school we can all be very proud of.

Ko koe ki tena, ko ahau ki
tenei kakau o te kete
Hei whakarereke nga whanau
me nga whanau katoa

“You at that, and us at this handle of the kete (basket), together families and their schools can bring about change in their communities”

Wishing you all a very safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
