In a World of Chaos, a Meaningful Culture Rules

Tony Grey —

It is hard to believe that we are in the final week of Term 2 and that our school has been open for half a year! They say time flies when you’re having fun! ☺

There have been so many special memories already this year and I am often asked what is the aspect that I am most proud of.  My response is always the same – the special culture that has developed throughout our school, including amongst our students, our staff and parents/whānau.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents, students and staff for the way in which they have supported each other as our school has formed.  Our school whakatauki (Māori proverb) encapsulates this beautifully:

Whiria te tāngata – Weave the people together

At the end of last term, the results of our student and parent survey were shared.

This term we have also surveyed our staff here at Te Ao Mārama, and I am delighted to share the results of that survey with our parent community (see Staff Survey Results article).

Why share this?   Our team at Te Ao Mārama work hard to provide a safe, warm, and nurturing environment for your children, and we are fortunate to have such passionate, hard working and fun people! I think it is nice for you to see that they love working here. If we work together to support them, then they in turn will be able to support your children even more.

I wish all of you a safe and happy term break, and I hope you parents are able to spend some quality time with your children.

Kind regards,

Tony
