New Staff

Tony Grey —

We are delighted to announce the appointment of our new teachers, Layla Rawnsley and Nicky Marquand. The appointment of these two teachers (and a third to be announced soon) will mean that our class sizes in Pūkeko and Kererū remain very low.

Kia ora koutou,
My name is Layla Rawnsley and I am excited to be joining the whānau in rūma Pūkeko here at Te Ao Mārama this term.
My background is in early childhood, having worked for the last 10 years with younger tamariki. I am looking forward to learning alongside the kaiako here at Te Ao Mārama and weaving experiences in the learning journey of tamariki. I have recently completed postgrad study in early intervention and hope to bring with me learning in this area to share.
My husband and I have 4 children ranging in ages from 18 to 5 years. We live on a lifestyle block in the country which we love and as a family we enjoy travel and the outdoors.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all and getting to know your tamariki here at Te Ao Mārama.
Ngā mihi Layla

Kia ora koutou. My name is Nicky Marquand and I am super excited to be joining the team at Te Ao Mārama. I feel very privileged to be part of such a special school community.
I currently live on the foothills of Mt Pirongia with my husband Shane, who is also a teacher, and our 3 awesome boys. We love being in the outdoors together - mountain biking, snowboarding, camping and tramping - the more remote the better. My husband and I have travelled and lived overseas for several years, but we’ve always called the Waikato home.
I have taught in primary schools in one of the most culturally diverse communities in the world - in East London. So I’m really looking forward to the cultural diversity of this special school community. I also have a background in early childhood education in Aotearoa and love to help children transition into their primary years.
I’m really looking forward to getting to know you and your children.
