A Message From The Board

Heemi McDonald —

Kia ora whānau. We virtually met recently as a Board and it has been wonderful hearing about all of the lockdown learning stories from across our school community.

As a Board, we first wish to thank Tony and the team for their amazing work and support during the lockdown period. You will probably now appreciate, more than ever, the amount of work and aroha our teachers put into our children. This speaks to the Ngākau, or heart, of what our school is about. We have appreciated the clear communication and support from both leaders and teachers in helping to guide us through the uncertainty of Covid19.

We would also like to thank you all, our community, for your support and in helping to continue to make learning fun and engaging. Perhaps this time has enabled us to develop a stronger sense of whanaungatanga as a school community and recognise that we can all be teachers and learners.

Finally, as a Board, we heard an update from Tony regarding our planned Stage 2 growth and extension. This will mean additional teaching and learning spaces for our school with the hopes of further development to the overall school facilities. The Board has established a sub-committee to work through this process and they will work closely with the Ministry of Education to progress the project. We look forward to providing you with updates in the near future.

Again, we wish to thank you all for your support and understanding during a time of great uncertainty and disruption. We acknowledge all of the hard work and commitment to making the most out of the learning experiences during Covid19.

Ngā mihi,

Heemi McDonald
