Rippa at Te Ao Mārama
A few weeks ago, our Rippa Rugby team (finalists in the Hamilton Rippa Tournament) played in the Waikato Regional tournament. This is a huge region, from the foothills of the Bombays to Tokoroa in the south; from Morrinsville to Te Awamutu.
Our team made it out of pool play with 2 wins and a draw. They played well in the quarterfinal, 1 try down at halftime, we gave it our best shot but eventually lost to Nawton School (previous NZ champions coached by Matua Hone!).
This was a remarkable achievement given we have a tiny pool of players to select from and a testament to our developing culture, skills and attitudes of our players, Matua Hone's coaching, and support from our whānau!
The team also challenged staff/whānau to a game last week.
A lot of fun, laughter and skills on show (and a few injuries amongst adults!) ...... and a 14-13 win to the students! Thank you to our whānau for coming along and joining in. You can check out the highlights video below:
