Eid Festival

Pamela Bishop —

Friday 7th June 9am-12.00pm

The beginning of June is the time when our Muslim families celebrate a festival called Eid.

To celebrate the cultural diversity of Te Ao Mārama and to learn more about our Muslim culture we will be hosting an Eid Pop-Up Festival this Friday the 7th of June.

During the day your child will visit the Festival and take part in some of the Festival activities such as:

  • A brief presentation and a speech by Thalia (Kererū) and Hana (Kāhu) to talk about Eid.
  • Yummy special sweets for the children if they would like to try some
  • Henna Tattoo which is a famous thing to do during this day.
  • Arabic Calligraphy (their name will be written for them in Arabic)
  • Children are welcome to wear their traditional clothes and there will be some traditional clothing for children to try on.
  • Henna Tattoo tracing

During our first break (10.40-11.15am), all members of our Te Ao Mārama community are welcome to join us in the gym for special Arabic coffee and a sweet bite to eat. All of the activities will be set up for you to explore.

We hope to see you there!
