Half-way through Term 3

Tony Grey —

It’s been another couple of busy weeks at our school with a particular highlight being our first ever cross country/fun run.

This was a chance for students to challenge themselves but to do so in a fun way (rather than some of the compulsory cross countries we probably all had to do).

It was also great to see so many of our parents at our second round of Hui-ā-whānau (student/parent/teacher meetings).  We had 97% attend over the two days.  If you were unable to make these dates, please feel free to pop in or contact your child's teacher.

Last week our roll reached 200 students which is considered very rapid growth for a new primary school (photo above of Alex, our 200th student). It is difficult to know what our future growth rates will be, but rest assured we are planning accordingly.  As well as our strategic goals on whanaungatanga (relationships/identity) and ako (teaching and learning), our board also have a third strategic goal called “Planning for Growth”. The appointment of three new teachers this term will mean that we are able to continue to offer class sizes (student to teacher ratios) well below the normal ratios.

We are in the last weeks of Winter and looking forward to seeing some sunshine and blue skies.

Kind regards,

Tony
