New Staff

Tony Grey —

Our team is growing! On Monday we officially welcomed 5 new team members with a special Pōwhiri. We have been so fortunate this year to have been able to sustain low teacher:student ratios and these new appointments mean we are able to keep this, despite the ongoing growth. As a new school this is sometimes hard to plan for, but we are appreciative of the support from the Ministry of Education and the strong relationship we have with them. Our staffing levels for 2020 will also ensure we are able to start with low class sizes.

Nicky will be joining Pūkeko and Alana will join Kererū team.
Kasey joins Kāhu team next term, releasing Frank Young for 2 days per week (as part of his Community of Learning Digital technology role, where he will support teachers across the 17 different schools in our Community of Learning).
Shannon has joined Pūkeko team as an Inclusive learning Assistant, supporting some of our youngest learners, and Amy starts as an admin support role with a focus on manaakitanga (hospitality). Keep an eye out next term for the Te Ao Mārama coffee shop being open, and also tuckshop for students.

Nicky Marquand

Kia ora koutou. My name is Nicky Marquand and I am super excited to be joining the team at Te Ao Mārama. I feel very privileged to be part of such a special school community.
I currently live on the foothills of Mt Pirongia with my husband Shane, who is also a teacher, and our 3 awesome boys. We love being in the outdoors together - mountain biking, snowboarding, camping and tramping - the more remote the better. My husband and I have travelled and lived overseas for several years, but we’ve always called the Waikato home.
I have taught in primary schools in one of the most culturally diverse communities in the world - in East London. So I’m really looking forward to the cultural diversity of this special school community. I also have a background in early childhood education in Aotearoa and love to help children transition into their primary years.
I’m really looking forward to getting to know you and your children.

Alana Cramond

Kia ora koutou. My name is Alana Cramond and I am excited to become part of the team at Te Ao Mārama. I am looking forward to meeting and working with all the wonderful staff, students and whānau that make up this amazing school community.
I grew up in Hamilton and have been teaching here for over 10 years. I love to guide children to make their own learning discoveries and I encourage them to explore their curiosities and wonderings. I find teaching very rewarding and strive to be a lifelong learner to assist me to be the best teacher I can be.
In my spare time I enjoy travelling, both overseas and throughout Aotearoa, hiking to discover new places and spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy photography and baking yummy treats.

Kasey Young

Kia Ora koutou,
My name is Kasey Young and I am very happy to be joining the Kāhu community in Term 4.
I am originally from Te Kuiti in the King Country. After attending high school in Hamilton I moved to Christchurch to attend the University of Canterbury, returning to the Waikato in 2009 to begin my teaching career.
My husband Frank (a current member of the teaching team) and I have a 2 year old son, who has been made to feel very welcome by all members of the school community.
My interests include playing netball, cooking, and spending time with my friends and family. Being able to support students along their learning journey is a real privilege, and I am very excited to have the opportunity to do this at Te Ao Mārama.

Amy Reeves

Hello! My name is Amy Reeves and I am super excited to become part of the team at Te Ao Mārama School in the role of admin support.
A bit about me: I was born and raised in Hamilton, and have enjoyed returning here to be closer to whanau and to raise my young family. I have two boys Elijah 6 and Jayden 2.
I have come from a sport/fitness background and previously worked at AUT University in the School of Sport and Recreation. I enjoy anything to do with sport, recreation and the outdoors (....and I'll give anything a go once! 😉).
In life, I follow similar values to the school and love the vibrant environment it creates. I cannot wait to get involved in this community.
Kia Ora Te Ao Mārama.
