Attendance

Attending school every day is important. Every day counts to give your child the best chance to succeed.

The Ministry of Education has set nationwide attendance targets to increase student attendance. At the end of last year only half of NZ students attended school for 90% or more of the days (9 days out of 10). While Covid/illness has played a part, the attendance rates prior to Covid-19 were also low, with just 58% of NZ students attending for 9 days or more out of every 2 weeks.

These rates are a real concern, as attendance at school is vital for students to make progress with their learning and develop connections with their classmates.

We are also keen to see our own attendance levels improve, and will be regularly sharing our attendance information. This data is also collected by the Ministry of Education.

In Term Four 2023, 68% of our students attended school 90-100% of the time. That still means that 147 of our students attended less than 9 days out of every 10.

We would really like to see these figures improve, and unless your child is sick, please ensure they attend school. We also appreciate that many of our families head overseas to visit family, and while we understand the reasons for this, it is important to understand that low attendance really does affect their education.
