Tēnā koutou katoa me ngā mihi i runga i ngā tūāhuatanga o te wā, kua hipa te tau | greetings to you all as we start a new school year.
It’s been great to be back at school & see the smiling faces of our students, as they reconnect with classmates and our staff. Our teachers are focussing on creating great learning environments and making the start to the year a really positive one.
An extra special welcome to our many new students and families that started at Te Ao Mārama this year.
As we begin the term, I want to acknowledge that we are heading into the year with a degree of uncertainty. 2022 will likely bring more challenges as we adjust to the current response to Omicron.
I would really like to express our thanks to our parent community. Your patience and understanding with drop-offs and pick-ups has been appreciated. Also thank you for your general support of how we need to operate our school safely under Red. There has been much in the media around concerns/issues between parents/schools, but I am proud to say that this has been a complete non-issue here at Te Ao Mārama.
A number of our local schools have had confirmed cases of COVID-19 over the last few days, and it is likely that this will affect our own school at some stage. I would like to reassure whānau that we have a wide range of measures in place to operate safely under the Red setting, and also plans in place for if/when there are cases within our school community.
There are comprehensive Ministry Health/Education guidelines that we need to follow, and we will endeavour to work through this efficiently and accurately before communicating with you.
If you have any queries or concerns, please feel free to email me tony@teaomarama.school.nz
