We had a very special visitor this week to help signal the start of Matariki!
The Ruru (morepork) is a powerful figure in Māori mythology and tradition 🦉
It was perfect timing too as we had Dr Ngapare Hopa with us this morning (“Whaea Pare” gifted our school name).
Whaea Pare told us that the Ruru can act as a guardian (kaitiaki) and they have the power to protect and advise.
It’s "more-pork" call can also mean that good news is on its way.
