Principal Post - September
Jenny Washington - September 23, 2024
Our school entrance looks amazing, thanks to the work of Kamo Marsh, particularly Danny and Jane and the landscape team Morgan and Pollard for making our landscape plans become a reality. In 2016, the PTA at the time, donated some funds to support the school signage. After our rebuild we were able to finally put this money towards some of the beautiful features we have in our new entrance.
The working bee that was held on Sunday 15 September was a true reflection of our strong community, a huge thank you to all the helpers, staff, parents and children all working together for the planting at our entrance. We appreciated all the work you achieved on the day, our school really values this amazing community spirit.
Over the holiday break Stage 2 of the project will be started. During this time some heavy machinery will be on the school site. We ask that our school community be considerate around this area. The tamariki will really enjoy the new features in this area including the return of a sandpit.
Swimming
The swim weeks were another success this year. Thank you to Chris and Will for organising this event and the whānau who supported the staff at the pool ensuring the smooth running of the two weeks. As a staff we notice the progress the children make during this time and thank the Jellie Park instructors for their teaching.
Education Curriculum - Government Announcements
You will be aware of the recent Government Announcements in Education outline new approaches. These are based on a nationalised structured scope and sequence to teaching with defined annual expectations that will be measured by a government approved provider. We have been working on our mathematics plan and literacy. Our school is well prepared for these changes with our high levels of achievement and successful programmes that we ensure are continually evolving our practices.
We would like to wish you all a happy and safe end of term break and look forward to seeing you all back on Monday 14 October for the start of Term 4.
