Construction Building
Reported by Emily C, Jaimee and Aamena
Kia ora Te Ara Maurea Roydvale School community, we have some fascinating news for you…. The builders are on the move again! And what we mean by that is the builders are starting to work on building our brand new courts. That is great news especially for the kids. They are making a new improved court with netball and basketball capabilities. This will be a MASSIVE hit! We are also going to report on the new build that was completed at the end of last year. These new spaces are terrific masterpieces for our tamariki! We hope you enjoy reading this article and learn more stuff about our school and the changes it will have.
Some of our parent community might not know that the rebuild of the Kererū classes and Rooms 7/8 have been completed. Rooms 11, 12, 13, 14, 7 and 8 have been completely refurbished! Our classroom spaces are now beautifully decorated with wooden or neutral coloured furniture. In Kererū some of the classes even have plants inside. Rooms 11-14 have an amazing break out space and a new kitchen… The kitchen is a space for all students to learn more about baking, cooking, kitchen safety and so much more! Room 11-14 and Rooms 7-8 have new toilets. These toilets are separate rooms instead of the old cubicles. The toilets are free for any student to use. We are so lucky to have these builders working on our very own school!
Please enjoy our walkthrough of the new build!
In the term 1 holidays the builders were working on some of the new school changes. The 2 big changes that the builders are working on right now (that we know) are: making the court bigger and making a netball and basketball court. The school really appreciates the work that the builders have done.
We met with Ben the builder to ask him about the construction.
Reporters: What is your favourite part of your job?
Ben: I am looking forward to seeing the finished product and everyone being happy.
Reporters: What is the next step in the build?
Ben: Adding the gravel.
Reporters: What other construction work do you do?
Ben: I do timber, boxing and landscaping.
Reporters: Do you enjoy your job?
Ben: I enjoy driving machines and doing different things each day.
Reporters: What other schools have you done construction at.
Ben: I have done construction at ten other schools!
Reporters: What is the coolest thing you have driven?
Ben: A bulldozer!
Te Ara Maurea Roydvale School is going to look amazing. This will be a new and improved school! Thank you to the wonderful builders who have worked so hard to make this possible. If you haven’t seen the work that has been done you are welcome to come and visit.
