We are lucky to have some new music tutors at Te Ara Maurea Roydvale School for the 2023 school year. While lessons take place at school during the school day payment is to be made directly to the tutor on a term by term basis.

Tutors will advise when payments are to be made as well as any terms and conditions they may have individually.

It is essential that you keep music teachers informed in advance of school or personal events that will affect your child’s attendance. Please note that this is the responsibility of the parent, not the school. If there is a school trip etc., you must let the music teacher know in advance.

Piano

Victoria Panckhurst (Mus.B, LTCL, dip.Tchg, AIRMT) is available to take piano students at Te Ara Maurea Roydvale on Wednesdays from 2023.

Victoria currently teaches piano, music theory, and takes choir at St Peter’s, as well as teaching at her private studio in Cashmere. Previously she was the Director of the Specialist Music Programme at Westburn School, and has taught Music at various secondary schools in Christchurch as well as at the Christchurch School of Music.

Victoria teaches from beginner level through advanced, and enters her students for New Zealand Music Examination Board, Trinity College, and Associated Board of Royal School Music Examinations. Her students will be given opportunities to perform within supportive environments throughout the school year.

Monster Music

Instrument options for Te Ara Maurea Roydvale School  - guitar or drums

Monster Music is an in-school music programme based in Canterbury, New Zealand. Monster Music offers a combination of music lessons in guitar, drums, ukulele, keyboard and musical theory around many Canterbury schools and residences. Monster Music has over 550 primary aged students enrolled week to week and focuses on teaching music in a modern and fun way. As well as private and group lessons, Monster Music also offers performance opportunities, band tuition and regular concerts for the students enrolled.
