Principal Post - 24 November
Jenny Washington - November 23, 2024
The term is flying by and we are looking forward to enjoying the last few weeks with the children. The weather continues to be very spring-like, with variable changes and we would like to thank families for ensuring children have their sunhats and sweatshirts for these changes.
Road Safety is still a concern for us. We are all responsible for ensuring our children are safe, if your child is young they will need to be supervised coming to and from school. Thank you to the whānau who have ensured they are travelling at slow speeds and helping out where needed.
Recently Will, Chris and John took a group of our students to the North West Zone Athletics. We were very proud of their efforts and want to thank the whānau who were able to attend and support our team. Congratulations to Gracie who has progressed into the Central Athletics competition.
At the beginning of the term our Kapa Haka group performed to the staff at Fulton Hogan. They donated some funds to our school and we purchased these two beautiful Korowai modelled by our Kapa Haka leaders Gracie and Oliver. Thank you to Fulton Hogan for your generous donation.
We will have a lot of excitement around the school for Monday. Mr Kennedy and Mr Williams have organised for staff and children to participate in ‘Terrific Tamariki Team Games.’ Thank you to the whanau who are supporting this event. The children are in mixed groups across the school and participate in a range of fun activities. What a great way to enjoy the end of year.
We are looking for more parent volunteers to help with before school road patrol in 2025. This could be a regular morning 8:25am-9am or on a casual basis- training provided. Can you help our awesome crew of students help keep all our tamariki safe when crossing the road next year? If you can help out please email emily.keenan@roydvale.school.nz with your name, contact details and the days you can help out and this information will be passed to the parent co ordinator.
We would like to welcome Peter, Thai, Eliza and Eden to Te Ara Maurea Roydvale School.
