The Kaingaroa School Student’s Arrival

Homeroom 3 and Homeroom 7 were very fortunate to have visitors from Kaingaroa school. They came from the Chatham Islands, and only have five students in the whole school! Because of this, they are all in the same class, even if the age difference is great. There are also sharks at the Chatham islands. There are about 6000 there! Also, there is only one shop at the Chatham Islands so whenever the principal of Kaingaroa school needs food, he has to drive half an island away! Isn't that exhausting? In Homeroom 3 we had Liam and Troy join us for the day.

The Difference Between The Two Schools

Mr Graydon, the principal of Kaingaroa school came to tell Homeroom 3 about the Chatham Islands. He then said the people in the Chatham Islands eat a lot more seafood than the people in New Zealand. The people in the Chatham islands also eat some peculiar food that NZ hardly eats (or never eats)! For example, Wekas and Swan Eggs! Would you want to eat those things? Did you know, there are actually more sharks in Chatham island than all the people in New Zealand? Mr Graydon mentioned that there were a lot of differences between their school and ours. For example, their school had only one classroom and our school had 11! Isn't that such a big difference?

We really enjoyed our visitors from Kaiangaroa School joining us for the day. We hope they come back at visit Te Ara Maurea Roydvale School again!
