Principal Post - June

Jenny Washington - June 17, 2024

Kia ora koutou,

We are well into Term 2 and the teachers have been preparing for Hero posts on reading, writing and mathematics for your child.  We are looking forward to meeting with you at the conferences during 25 / 26 June, if you haven’t already you can access this through the Hero app.  Please connect with the Homeroom teacher if you are unable to do so.

Every year a group of up to 200 Principals across Aotearoa are able to apply for a sabbatical.  This year I have been very fortunate to be selected.  As a director of the Canterbury Primary Principals Association Middle Leaders programme I am undertaking some research during this time and spending some time with my whānau.  While I am away Emily Keenan and Lara Hyland will be completing aspects of my position. I look forward to hearing how the term has gone when I return at the end of Term 3.

The children have really enjoyed the “Jump Rope for heart” activities.  Thank you to Chris and Will for organising this event.

We would like to welcome Maddie and Harley to Te Ara Maurea Roydvale School.

We were very excited to receive our latest ERO report that we are very proud of. You can find out more details about the process and the report below:

ERO confirmed report

The Board and the School Leadership Team are very excited to be able to share the latest ERO report.

Recently our Board received the confirmed ERO report for our school. You can now find the Te Ara Maurea Roydvale School Education Review Office on ERO’s website. Our Board, leadership and staff are very pleased with the achievements and outcomes of the report.

Please read about this process with ERO below:

Te Ara Huarau is the evaluation approach that the Education Review Office (ERO) is using in our school. This is a developmental approach to evaluation where ERO and our school work together over time rather than one off review that happened previously. Te Ara Huarau is used in most English-medium state and state-integrated schools.

ERO maintains a regular view programme to evaluate and report on the education and care of you people in schools. Our school worked with ERO and contributed to writing our School Evaluation Report. The report reflects and informs our strategic priorities and direction for improvement in one or more areas that are important as we work together to improve outcomes for all our learners. ERO, like us, has a strong focus on equality and excellence. Future reporting will show our progress and achievement towards meeting the areas for improvement in this report. Public reports like the School Evaluation Report are published on ERO’s website.
