Festival of Nations
The sun was shining, our community came together, and we celebrated the rich cultural diversity that makes our kura so special.
The atmosphere was electric, the pride was undeniable, and the sense of unity will be remembered for a long time.
A huge shoutout to everyone who dressed up and embraced the day by proudly representing your culture—whether through traditional attire or wearing your flag. It didn’t go unnoticed.
A few students even mentioned how deeply it moved them to see their kaiārahi embracing and celebrating their culture—it really meant a lot.
Special congratulations to Mrs Neema Singh, who won Best Dressed Staff for FoN 2025!
My personal highlight has been all the positive feedback rolling in—it’s been a joy hearing how meaningful the day was for so many. Of course, this wouldn't have been possible without the collective effort of so many.
A massive NGĀ MIHI NUI to every person and group who contributed to making the day so special; thank you all for partnering with us to make Festival of Nations 2025 such a memorable, joyful, and unifying celebration for our kura and wider community.
Some of our International Prefects and student leaders have also shared words that remind us just how much this event meant for our ākonga:
Rita Malabat - International Prefect
The Festival of Nations was honestly one of the most heartwarming events I’ve experienced at school. It was amazing to see so many cultures being represented—not just through performances, but also through food, clothing, and the stories people shared. Everyone came with pride and excitement, and that energy made the whole event feel really special.
What stood out to me the most was how it brought people together. Even if we came from different backgrounds, there was this strong sense of unity. I saw students supporting each other, learning new things, and just enjoying the moment. It made me appreciate how lucky we are to be in such a diverse community, where differences are celebrated instead of judged.
The festival wasn’t just about showcasing culture—it was about connection, respect, and belonging. I walked away feeling inspired, more understanding, and really proud of our school.
Prena Prasad - International Prefect
I must say that this year’s FoN was the most unforgettable and successful event I have experienced in the last 2 years of my study in Te Aratai College. Being an International Kahui Prefect, I had the privilege to see all the behind-the-scenes efforts come to life in the best way possible. It wasn’t just the fact that we had rides this year but the whole atmosphere made this year's FoN special. There was a genuine buzz in the air. The energy from students, staff, and visitors created a space where cultures were celebrated, connections were made, and memories were formed.
Even now, a week later, people are still talking about it, saying it was the best FoN they’ve experienced during their time at school. What I feel made this year's FoN stand out was the way we actually reflected on the previous year's one and took the time to discuss what worked and what didn’t, and made sure to improve every detail. From better planning and communication to creating a more welcoming and vibrant environment, we truly set the bar high for the years to come.
Being part of this journey, especially in my final year, means a lot to me. It’s something I’ll always remember and be proud of.
Smriti Parajuli - Service Prefect
The Festival of Nations this year was phenomenal. I felt so connected with the celebration, getting included with my speech and dance. It was amazing helping, preparing it all and seeing it happen! I was super pleased with how it all worked out!
Thaylla Silva - Academic Prefect
I have been at Te Aratai College since Year 7, and I must say this was the best Festival of Nations I’ve experienced. I was able to clearly see all the different cultures and be able to show mine as well. It was an amazing day that I will remember forever!
Fatemah Ahmadi - Wellbeing Prefect
This year’s Festival of Nations felt so different from the previous ones, and that’s what made it really special for me. Having all my friends there made the experience so much more meaningful. We got to walk around together, try different foods, and enjoy the performances while seeing everyone smiling and genuinely having fun.
It wasn’t just about cultures, it was about sharing those moments with the people closest to me. The whole atmosphere felt warmer and more connected, and it’s definitely a memory I’ll hold on to.
