Karaka House Dean's Report

Robbie Timo —

An update of all things related to students in the Karaka whānau.

Talofa lava.

Well, what a great transformation into a new space it has been. We are at our new site and sorting out the teething problems that go with such a move. Very happy that the old site will start getting demolished and a new rebuild is finally underway. We had our Wā Whakanui in Week Three and it was great to see students and whānau talking about their learning with Ako teachers. I am so glad to see the end of winter and another rugby season down. I have played in every game from the preseason to the last and now begin my coaching with Metro U18s. We have the South Island tournament in a six-week program, where we have viewed players throughout the whole season.

Recently, I was awarded a Life Membership from the Sumner Rugby Football Club. I was very proud and honoured to accept this and know inside that it has been a lot of sacrifices, dedication and hard work playing, officiating, administering and training. It is great to work towards a goal and then achieve it and be recognised by your peers. Getting an interview on Talksport Radio with our very own, Lesley Murdoch was wonderful. I am very lucky to be involved in rugby at a time when we have the All Blacks, Crusaders and our very own ITM Cup Canterbury team.

Please feel free to come into Linwood College Otakaro at any time to see the wonderful work your child is doing and the new site that we are on.

Tofa soifua,

Robbie Timo
