And Just Like That, It’s Almost a Wrap

Larisha Toomey —

Another year has flown by and what a year it has been.

Kia ora e te whānau.

This brings me to my last report of the year. It’s amazing how fast the school year seems to go these days. It’s been a busy year with a lot happening at school, in our community and in wider Aotearoa.

We have been so incredibly proud of how our Tāhuhu ākonga have shown resilience and perseverance throughout tough and unknown times. Our Tāhuhu ākonga were amongst the most engaged rangatahi throughout the entire school. This was extremely pleasing, however not surprising as we know we have so many eager learners in our learning area.

Early in the term, all our Tāhuhu ākonga did a walk around the CBD participating in the SCAPE Art Expedition. It was wonderful to get out and explore our lovely city and see some amazing artwork.

Year 8 camp is happening in week 7. We are off to Waipara Adventure Centre, which is always a wonderful time for both rangatahi and kaiako and a fabulous way to end the year and farewell our ākonga as they finish their journey with us and continue on their Linwood College learning waka.

I would like to take this opportunity to share with you all that after nearly a decade of deaning at LCŌ I have chosen to focus on other areas within the school. Mr Robbie Timo will take over the deaning role for Tāhuhu ākonga and whānau. I want to thank the Tāhuhu team for their awhi while I have been in this busy role, the ākonga for bringing joy to the job and our Tāhuhu whānau for their passion and aroha of our ākonga.

I’d like to wish everyone a safe and happy festive season.

Larisha Toomey, Tāhuhu Dean
