Tāhuhu Junior Dean's Report

Robbie Timo —

Tāhuhu expands: rebuild should be ready for Term 1, Day 1 2024.

Talofa lava whānau.

2023 has been such an exciting year with close to 200 Tāhuhu students at Te Aratai. So many, in fact, that we are expanding the school to accommodate the growth in our junior school. We have 4 Year 7 classes and 3 Year 8 classes and the roll continues to grow.

In the closing weeks of the term, we take our Year 8s to Waipara Adventure camp for some much-needed whanaungataga. It will be a great chance to farewell our Year 8s as they depart to Year 9 in the New Year. It doesn’t seem that long ago when they were newly admitted Year 7s finding their way around Te Aratai. We hope the 2 years in Tāhuhu have served them well preparing them for the coming years of progressive learning.

During the last weeks, we are conducting enrolment hui with incoming students and their whānau. It is in these interviews that we get to know what their expectations are of us coming into 2024 and what support is needed from Te Aratai to make them successful students. If we can put in the mahi now we all start 2024 on an even foot.

I would like to send a big thank you to all our whānau, students and teachers who have had a part in nurturing our Tāhuhu students. The adolescence age is a tricky time with so much going on for our young tamariki. Have a great Christmas and a safe New Year.

Ngā mihi,

Mr Robbie Timo
