A hand-on numeracy activity programme

We have introduced a new numeracy programme into Year 9 at Linwood College. This is for students who need a boost in mathematics and who like to use concrete or hands-on materials. The students attend twice a week for 30 mins per slot. There are activities to complete and understanding patterns in number rather than written work. The students are encouraged to use the resources and make their learning more meaningful. This supports their ability to understand mathematical concepts used in every day life. We are under the watchful eye and tuition of Jo Meyrick, one of our local RTLB. The students enjoy the challenge and are fully engaged. We look forward to delivering this programme across more of the junior school at a later date.
