Kia ora koutou, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Ni sa bula, Kumusta and warm greetings to our Te Aratai College community.

The Year 10 deaning team, Pania Watson and Sig Koop would like to use this opportunity to introduce ourselves. We are looking forward to working together with whānau, students and staff to support our ākonga learning and well-being. We were fortunate to get to know most of the Year 10 students and their whānau in our previous role as the Year 9 and 10 Dean in 2022. This year’s Ako structure has changed to year levels, which allows us to work closely with our kaiārahi (Ako teachers) to support our students with this term’s focus on attendance and uniform as well as their learning and pastoral needs for a successful year at our kura. Our message to our ākonga is: Right place - Right time - Right uniform.

We are working on building a positive Year 10 culture and what it looks like to demonstrate our uara, the school values of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, rangatiratanga and turangawaewae. Outside the classroom, students have a wide range of learning and sports opportunities including attending digital technology and leadership whananga. We look forward to seeing the Year 10 students grow over this year and contributing to our school culture.
