Waiporoporo House Senior Dean's Report

Lukas Davidson —

Warm greetings from the Waiporoporo whānau.

Kia ora.

Once again it has been an interesting start to the year with the Omicron outbreak gaining momentum. I hope you and your whānau are safe and well. Despite the disruption, it has been great to see many of our senior students engaged in their schoolwork and doing well.

Those new to NCEA (Year 11) have been working hard to get off to a good start. The jump from being a junior to a senior student can be daunting for some and good self-management is a big part of ensuring success.

We always encourage students to ask for help when needed. Their teachers and deans are always happy to offer support. I know many positive conversations are being had at home and it is great to see whānau getting actively involved in students learning.

Already this year we have had to roster some online learning for certain year groups as the outbreak increases. I would like to encourage students to continue to take ownership of their learning and show good self-management during these times.

Thank you all for your support to date and we look forward to seeing how the year progresses.
