Karaka Senior Dean's Report

Erin Chamberlain —

Kia ora, talofa.

We are heading towards the end of the year, and most senior students have finished for the year. Well done to all students making it to the end of the year, getting through covid and being successful in and outside the classroom.

During Week 3, we celebrated with three major events; Sports Awards, Hui Whakapūmau and Senior Prizegiving. This was a great series of events and we were able to celebrate students and all their successes this year.

Hui Whakapūmau was run this year for our Year 13s and we got to celebrate these students' 5 - 7 years at High School and their finishing at Te Aratai. It was an absolute pleasure to sit and listen to each staff member sit and celebrate each ākonga, what they have achieved at Te Aratai College and where they are going next. No matter what you are all doing next year I wish you well and hope to see you again.

Senior Prizegiving - a place for us to celebrate academic success. This year has been particularly challenging in terms of covid and rostering home. I am proud of our students and the successes they have made in these trying times. Whether their goal was to pass with 70 credits or whether it was to pass one subject, I know our students have succeeded in these goals and they should be proud of themselves.

We are in the middle of exams right now, these go to the 2nd of December. Many of our students will have these exams and it is positive to see many students turning up and giving them a go. Some reminders for exams; please arrive at 9am or 1.30pm for these exams, arrive in uniform and remember your stationery.
