Year 9 Dean’s Report

Pania Watson —

Kia ora!

This term has definitely felt wintery and I am grateful for our new school and the warmth of our new buildings. Midway through last term we finally had a Y9 assembly where we celebrated the successes of our Y9 ākonga. It was great to be able to gather together in Te Puna to celebrate the great things happening for Y9’s so far this year.

The following ākonga were nominated by staff for their demonstration of our school uara:

Manaakitanga: Waimana Te Rupe and Lucus Beedles

Whanaungatanga: Samiuela Fifita and Cayleigh Roskruge-Darbyshire

Rangatiratanga: Daniel Thompson and Izzy Rangihaeata

Tūrangawaewae: Tyler Boot and Cassidy Maukau-Stowell

Academic Success: Lena Norton and Danica Neels

The winners of the high attendance draw: Charlie McHutchinson and Lucus Beedles

We also celebrated some of the excellent work completed by some students. The Y9 art class completed an abstract unit and there was a mini-exhibition. Here are some of their amazing works!

We have had some Y9 sports teams who are doing really well over this winter season. We are looking forward to seeing them progress in our local competitions. You can check out when our teams are playing on our website.

As the days are cold we are starting to see a few hoodies and other non-regulation uniform items. As a school we are making it a priority to represent Te Aratai with pride. This looks like wearing the correct school uniform, if there is any issue with acquiring these items please feel free to get in touch with your kaiārahi or myself. We do have a uniform equity fund which we can access if need be.

If you have any concerns or questions about your child please feel free to contact their kaiārahi in the first instance or if it is a higher-level issue contact me on 0220265746 or pwa@linwoodcollege.school.nz
