Proxime Accessit and Dux Awards

Our runner-up to the Dux for 2022 was Alex Ibasitas. The Dux, awarded to our top academic student, went to Rowan Templeton.

Proxime Accessit, awarded to our runner-up to the Dux

Alex Ibasitas achieved an overall Excellence endorsement for NCEA Level 1 and 2. He is currently on track for an overall Excellence endorsement for NCEA Level 3. Alex achieved two Merit and one Excellence subject endorsements in Level 1. He also achieved three Merit and one Excellence subject endorsements in Level 2.

This year he was awarded Third Equal in Statistics, Third Place in Business Enterprise, and First Place in Physics.

Dux, awarded to our top academic student

Throughout her time at Te Aratai, Rowan Templeton achieved an Excellence endorsement for NCEA Level 1, and 2. She is currently on track for an overall Excellence endorsement for NCEA Level 3.

Rowan sat Level 1 Mathematics as a Year 10, Level 2 Academic Mathematics at Year 11, and Level 3 Calculus at Year 12. This year she was awarded First Place in Geography, First Place in Biology, First Place in Chemistry, First Place in Statistics, and got an A+ in ENVIRO101 at the University of Canterbury.

In 2023 Rowan is off to Canterbury University to study a Bachelor of Environmental Science with Honours, majoring in Ecosystem Health and Biosecurity.

Well done to our top academic senior students for 2022, an outstanding achievement at the tail-end difficult period for learning. We wish all the best to Rowan and Alex in their future endeavours.
