Linwood College celebrated our annual Sports Awards prize giving on Thursday 20 September in the Student Centre.
The event was a huge success! Callum Lawson and Jasina Gurung were MCs for the evening, both doing an outstanding job.. Melissa Young gave the Deputy Principal's message and Jason Tiatia (former New Zealand Sevens Rugby player) shared his journey and life lessons with us. Heidi Schout from Ara and Finlay Laird from the Board of Trustees presented awards. The event had awards for all sports and physical activities run this year, including all year 7-13 student athletes. Representative players were recognised and then major awards for all of our outstanding athletes were presented. Congratulations to Hine-Moana Foster - Sportswoman of the Year, Leon Lefua - Sportsman of the Year, and Fabricius Sua - Sportsperson of the Year. We would like to thank Jade Cull, our Sports Coordinator, the Health and Physical Education learning area, our teachers who coach or manage, all of our student and ex-student coaches, our whānau who support us and our community. This year we would also like to extend our gratitude to Melissa Young and Hannibal Ikahihifo for their contribution to sport and physical activity for the last 6 years - the students and staff are truly grateful.
