Te Aratai College Sports Awards

On Tuesday 31st October, we celebrated the sporting success of our students for the 2023 sporting season.

We want to take this opportunity to thank all of our coaches and managers who allow us to have sport at our kura. A mihi also to Jade Cull (Sports Coordinator), the Board of Trustees, Apollo Projects, The Kutt and our community for their support this year. Jesse Harding (Head of Sport) was thrilled with how the evening went saying, “It was a fantastic evening to bring together our kaitākaro (players) and whānau to celebrate them, it is always one of my favourite nights of the year”.

It was a big night for Dormay Laufiso, who was awarded the Sportsperson of the Year award, the top award of the evening. Stan Johnston and Kymaira Flavell were awarded Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year, respectively. Stan finished the night with 4 awards and Kymaira walked away with 5 trophies on the night and a total of 7 awards.

Other standout kaitākaro (players) from the evening were Lena Norton (4 awards with 2 trophies, including Female Contribution to Sport and Junior Sportswoman of the Year) and Atama Dixon (5 awards with 2 trophies, including Junior Sportsman of the Year).
