Tāhuhu Deans' Report
An update from the Tāhuhu Deans.
Kia ora, Talofa lava, Kumusta, Mālo e lelei,
It has been a busy year and we have reached the end. It has been a pleasure working with our Tāhuhu ākonga (students) and whānau this year. It is a true blessing to come to mahi (work) each day and working alongside great kaiako (teachers) and kaimahi (staff). It has been an enjoyable year with all of the learning and personal growth that has happened, alongside the relationships and connections becoming stronger between ākonga, whānau and kaiako.
I want to acknowledge our Tāhuhu staff, all of the kaiako and our learning assistants as well as the wider teachers who teach and support our students. Without them, our ākonga would not get the support or learning opportunities they get. A special acknowledgement to Robbie Timo who made the decision to step away from the deaning position in Term 4 this year. Robbie has given so much to this position and his care for our ākonga and the work he has put in with our whānau has been inspirational. Robbie will continue working at Te Aratai as a full-time teacher next year. Fa’afetai for all you have given Robbie.
To our Year 8 ākonga who are leaving Tāhuhu and heading into Year 9 at Te Aratai College next year; walk with your head up high, proud of what you have achieved already as a student at our kura. Take all you have learnt with you, awhi (support) our new ākonga who join us next year and demonstrate all of our ngā uara (values) on a daily basis. We hope that the Tāhuhu years of your learning journey will help support your next step as you officially enter high school.
To our Year 7 ākonga, you are the tuakana next year and will be the leaders of Tāhuhu. Embrace this opportunity and help support our new Year 7 ākonga into our kura. I know you will do this extremely well.
We wish everyone a fabulous break and holiday period. Enjoy the time with each other and I hope you are able to fill your cup and come back next year, refreshed and ready for learning and leading the way.
He taonga rongonui te aroha ki te tangata -
Goodwill towards others is a precious treasure
Ngā mihi
