Different senior year levels rostered home on various days

We have staff at home both as positive Omicron cases themselves and as home contacts. The parallel difficulty to this is that there are no relievers available.

Therefore we are rostering the senior students home for online learning, starting tomorrow/Wednesday with Yr 11s. Of course we recognise the late notice of this. That is the unfortunate reality of the changeable environment that we are operating in.

At present we are rostering one senior year level a day for home online learning until the end of next week. The roster for this is:

The reason for the rostering home the seniors is that our school has made a commitment to prioritise Yr 7-10s at school so whānau do not have the extra burden of sorting out childcare. It is helped that it is early in the year so this will not materially affect senior NCEA progress.

All Yr 7-8s return to school tomorrow

So it is explicit, Yr 7-8 students return to school tomorrow.

School closing for learning this Thursday-Friday end of P4

In order to assist staff wellbeing and capacity, school will close for learning this Thursday and Friday 3-4 March at the end of P4, 1.25pm. As always in these circumstances there will be supervision for any students who are not able to go home at 1.25pm.

Learning online

Staff are ensuring students have the learning material for their rostered day of home online learning. The following school website link are the learning sites for each Learning Area.

Best laid plans

The above plans are based on an "average" predicted increase.  We are sharing them now to give our community certainty, or as much certainty as can be given in the beginning of the Omicron wave.

We know that the virus cannot be totally predicted and while we are factoring in increased positive staff and student numbers, there is no "average." It is possible that our plans will need to be adjusted. We hope not, but I know that irrespective of what happens, we will all continue to work together for community wellbeing. He waka eke noa.
