Kaha House Senior Dean's Report

Lukas Davidson —

Kia ora koutou.

What a busy start to the term. Term 3 is always challenging with students finishing off internal assessments and beginning to look ahead to the exams. The Deans and kaiārahi have been working hard, gathering data and starting to have academic tracking conversations with students. As always, we are encouraging ākonga to take ownership of their learning and asking them to seek help and ask questions if they are in doubt about assessments or NCEA credits.

There has also been plenty to celebrate over the past few weeks starting with a fantastic school production. Grease certainly lived up to the hype and we congratulate all the teaching staff, students and other people involved in this.

Some individuals to highlight also, starting with Destiny Martin who has been selected as one of 22 young explorers by the Antarctic Heritage Trust to embark on the trip of a lifetime. Destiny will sail to South Georgia on Antarctica 21’s ship, the Magellan Explorer between 30th September – 14th October.

This year we also have another group of Coast to Coast Rangers students who will test themselves during the great race at the start of 2024. I want to thank Jessy Moffat and her team for all the support they offer our students as they embark on their adventure training. The 2024 squad includes Levi Kissel, Mitchell Thornton, Rangi Poutai, Austin Page, Ari Brennan, Manawa Radcliffe-Kershaw, Fatemah Ahmadi, Smriti Parajuli, Destiny Martin and Trystian Lopes Dos Santos.

Mauri tū, mauri ora. An active soul is a healthy soul.

Ngā mihi nui,

Lukas Davidson
