Rangatiratanga: being the best we can be

Correct uniform, punctuality and other kura expectations

Kia ora koutou

This article is for whānau of Yr 7-10 learners.

Our seniors are on exam leave and are in the middle of tutoring week. This means that we have fewer students on site. I am noticing and focussing on our Yr 7-10s modelling Ngā Uara o Te Aratai and stepping up to our school expectations with of course, school uniform and punctuality to class being two of the most visible of these. And for clarity:

  • footwear is plain black shoes. From the uniform regulations: Black enclosed shoes suitable for a school environment. Black soles and black uppers; no other colours.
  • the jacket is our school jacket with the logo or plain black jacket. This is not a sweatshirt or hoodie. From the uniform regulations: TC waterproof jacket with Te Aratai College logo or PLAIN black waterproof jacket for cold or wet weather

Uniform information: https://tearatai.school.nz/our-uniform/  This link also has the uniform shop hours and contact details.

Parallel to the school uniform, Yr 7-10s may wear their PE uniform all day for the days they are timetabled for PE. This is because we have the situation that we physically don't have enough gym changing space for the number of our learners.

As always, if there are uniform difficulties, please let us know either through your child's kaiārahi, dean or to Sue Ingle, our Head of Guidance. We are here to help. Sue's direct email is ig@linwoodcollege.school.nz

We are in the middle of week 5 of a 10 week term. This means we have four more full school weeks until the final week and all its celebrations, and we are most certainly playing to the whistle. The focus of these four weeks, nearly half a term, is on learning and our ākonga-learners being the best that they can be.

We are being explicit about this here at school. We would value all our whānau having a similar conversation at home.

Got a question?

We all know that schools can be complicated places so there are many staff available to assist if whānau have a particular question. Contacting me can also be arranged through the office or my direct email is en@linwoodcollege.school.nz

My door is open.
