Smriti Parajuli and the Acts of Kindness Collective
Inaugural Recipient of the Te Aratai Community Service Award.
On Thursday, November 8th, Smriti Parajuli (Y11) travelled to Papanui to speak in front of the Waipapa-Innes Community Board, the group who have bestowed the gift of our new community service award on Te Aratai College. As the first-ever recipient and a proud member of the A.K.C. (Acts of Kindness Collective), Smriti talked about her service work around school, and especially her community work at Aldwins House, where she has cultivated a lasting friendship with her “surrogate grandma,” Beverly.
In speaking selflessly about why she wanted to be involved with this work, Smriti illustrated for the board all the reasons she was so deserving of this award. Her presentation was well received, and she represented Te Aratai with integrity and aroha. Well done, Smriti!
